British Royals And Homeopathy

Apparently, the British Royal family, and especially Prince Charles, are big fans of homeopathy. It's probably old news for their fans but I only discovered it recently, when doing some research on the topic of alternative medicine. I wonder if homeopathic remedies were what allowed Queen Mother to beat cancer not once, but twice in her life and  whether she used them instead of conventional chemo treatments which are so harsh on one's body. The article is silent about it.

I'm not sure myself what I think of homeopathy, but I tend to agree with the lady quoted in the first article I linked to:

“The Royal family have huge resources and access to everything medicine has to offer, yet they choose homeopathy,” explains Roberts. “I thought, 'Why would they use it if it doesn’t work?’”

So when my husband got injured I bought a homeopathic balm to apply to his bruises and it seemed to work rather quickly. He only used it for a couple of days and hen he started feeling better.

Does anyone have much experience with homeopathy? Feel free to share!

In other. but not related health news, Romans had great teeth because they didn't consume sugar. I'm going to write more about Romans and their diet next week, so stay tuned!

Is She Pregnant Or What???

My husband, myself and the housekeeper all think she might be:

She is getting fat.

And lazy. Still goes outside though. But after walking a couple of meters just drops down and lies around.

Does any of my readers have experience with this? What do you think?

P.S. Thanks everyone who prayed, my husband is definitely getting better!

Just As Promised

This is the apple pie I baked on Tuesday:

The recipe was adapted from this magazine:

Of course, I adjusted it, I usually do:) The worst thing is that I often forget the details because I never really follow the recipes exactly, which makes it rather difficult to write a post about it.

Anyway, I'll try my best. I used 6 medium size apples, peeled and thinly sliced; slightly more than 1c emmer wheat flour and slightly less than 1c all purpose wheat flour; 2tsp backing powder, ab. 10 tbsp brown sugar, cinnamon and salt to taste, 2 eggs, 200g cream (20% fat) and 2 tbsp olive oil.

Combine the apples, flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cinnamon. Add eggs, cream and olive oil, mix well. Transfer to a greased pan and bake at ab. 190*C for +/- 30min. I glazed it with honey afterwards. It shouldn't be very sweet. You can serve it with ice cream as the original recipe says or just with a cup of tea or coffee in the evening.

Enjoy!

Britain, Yes?

Everybody loves to mock Sweden, but what about the state of Britain? Outside of Brexit shenanigans and people being investigated for wrong think tweets, they now appear to export militant vegans.

Just look at this wealthy British lady tourist attacking a poor third world farmer at a market. And his crime? Keeping chickens in a cage. As my husband rightly pointed out, she could have simply bought them, but the British (some of them) are economical like that:)

If you watch it with the sound on, it's even better. Whatever on Earth is happening? Stay classy, UK!

WARNING: language (is not ladylike)

Garden News And More

As usual, I brought back some inspiring magazines:)

And since the weather last weak was very nice, we were busy refurbishing our garden:

We installed some solar lamps, as you can see:

But also lit a real fire last Saturday. There is something about sitting by the fire in the evening, don't you agree? Something primeval, I should say:

I did find time to read one of my new magazines:

We also planted an apple tree!

It had some apples which I harvested:

We also bought some by a local farmer so I'm planning to make an apple pie.

Stay tuned for more news and a further vacation report:)

High Heels And Other Things

I'm not sure if any of my readers follow him, but Stefan Molyneux has been on fire lately, first triggering feminists with his comments on motherhood, than on lipstick and now he moved on to high heels.

Personally I used to like shoes with  heels (not too high though) when I was younger but was forced to quit since I developed quite intense pain in my back after wearing them so now heels for me are reserved for formal occasions only.

A short search on the internet delivered lots of articles on the health impact of high heels, like this one.

And what do you think? High heels or not? And, is it modest? Feel free to share your opinion and/or experiences in the comments section!

Living Like A Caveman Or How To Have An Active S*x Life at 95

Well, not really a caveman, more like a prehistoric person:)

You see, while being on vacation, I didn't lose my time in vain but did a research about the life of neolithic/bronze age indigenous European folks, by visiting their village:

Or, should I say, an authentic reconstruction:

There were about 13 early Celtic villages all around the lake (try to guess which one) and they were actively trading abroad and even fighting in wars.

By the way, you have probably heard that until recently, most people were short. Yet, the archeologists discovered the remains of a man (presumably a warrior, whose cause of death was decapitation) who was 192 cm tall. There is a speculation that he probably had (or had survived) a malicious metastatic tumor, which made me wonder about ancient cancer rates, and I found some interesting info ( if you like debate, read it over here) on the subject. (In short, they did have it but it was rare until the 17th century or so).

Their diet was mixed and consisted of some agricultural produce, dairy and meat, but since they lived on the lake, many were fishermen. In summer, they ate lots of berries and apples. There has been a lot of speculation going on recently about the ancient diets, with people switching from paleo to carnivore diet, but is it really healthy? Our ancestors appeared to enjoy a variety of foods. (Granted, those were not Neanderthals).

They lived like a community as it was typical for later Celts, too, and had a communal gatherings house, and their cows were of the same breed that you can see nowadays roaming the parks around here, a small reddish variety, indigenous for Europe.  And while we are speaking of cavemen prehistoric people, someone told me about the so-called "cavemen regimen" which basically means no skin care products of any kind and not washing your face too often. Apparently, some young people use it to get rid of acne. Well, I've been following it for about 2 months now. At first, the results were mixed as I had some dry skin patches on my face but now it's slowly getting better and my sun allergy is non-existent.

BTW, as we are talking about health and diet (yet again), here is an interesting story about a Turkish yoga practitioner who restored his health by it. I've heard all sorts of things about yoga. Most Christians distrust it because of (pagan) origins, yet I also heard that most of the exercises we call yoga nowadays were actually invented by the 19th century missionaries so they are OK for Christians to do.

Anyway, the funny thing is that the guy in question (who was 95 when the article was written and so far I couldn't find any info on whether he is still alive) isn't a big meat eater, but boasts of quite a robust... well s*x life (contributing to the debate whether meat or plant based diet is the healthiest) but also that he eats lots of honey every day and most health experts including alternative ones will tell you how dangerous all sugary foods are:) Granted, he makes his honey himself, so...

Ladies and gentlemen, that was all for today, see you next time!
