What's the average temperature right now? I'll convert to Fahrenheit (created by a German physicist). It's in the low 90's (F) here in South Texas. Pretty typical, though we did have 100F days two weeks straight in mid June in '24.
See, if you Europeans had a more capitalistic economic system, more people could maybe afford air conditioning. Even the poorest here in my part of the US can probably afford a small window unit for around $120 to $200 that is good for a 100 square foot to 200 square foot room.
On the downside, all that cool indoor climate makes us fatter since most people tend to eat less when it is hot. Also, icemakers and free refills at restaurants. :LOL:
Luckily, we've been able to tell the 'warmunist' to stuff it and go be miserable somewhere else.
It was +36*C here where I live yesterday. Today it's better though. Our economic system is just fine, at least we don't have streets full of junks lying around and homeless camps, and nobody goes bankrupt because of medical bills. Also aircos aren't that expensive. Split systems are expensive, and they use a lot of electricity, too. When dollar stops being the reserve currency, we'll talk again;)
Yes, some of the homeless issues seen are a result of drugs and stupidity. Sadly, there are people living in their cars in more expensive parts of the country that even have jobs, but can't afford a place to live.
As for the medical, the biggest problem is that we have a rent seeking insurance and pharmaceutical entities that work with the state and federal government to make things expensive. I've talked to my general practitioner about this over the years. Both the government and insurance companies are self serving bureaucracies. With all the technology, most medical procedures should have gone down in costs. Obummercare has also been destructive, but neither party here cares.
I do give RFK credit for trying to remove glycophosphate and other junk that Europeans have banned from their food which would be helpful. We are a rich country and there is no reason for us to have better quality food at an affordable price.

Europe is not a country, it's a continent;) So Europe didn't have thousands deaths from heat. France did, though. The reason for this is their government (and apparently that of Germany and UK to a certain degree) has a weird ideological opposition to modern air-conditioning and many people blindly follow the lead. Thus most of their hospitals and nursing homes don't have it, and a lady minister even went on the TV and shamed people who asked for it. So yeah, that's ridiculous and you can bash them all day long, for my part:))) But these three countries aren't "Europe" whatever they may think about themselves.
