Interesting. Sounds like such cases are more like rational contempt for the authorities than outright 'brainwashing.' Maybe it's no coincidence that this idea of a Stockholm syndrome came out of the 1970's, when both the integrity of the authorities and faith in those authorities were breaking down.
A lot of this "psychology'' stuff is nonsense, imo. I also disdain the modern tendency to label bad/evil behaviour as some sort of mental disorder. You see a lot of this in reddit discussions, especially. Like this person is not some evil b8tch/bastard they just have a mental condition. Evil people aren't victims.
