I have noticed it being promoted quite a bit lately, by such respectable Evangelical organisations as Gospel Coalition (I won't link to their article because I find it emotionally manipulative, sorry). Only (some) Catholics appear to be against it. The procedure itself is not without its risks, but that aside, isn't it introducing a third party (parties) into the marital bed, akin to egg/sp88m donation, which many conservative Christians are against? Because your wife getting pregnant from embryo donation means your wife is getting pregnant with another man's child.
At best, one could argue that it falls under Christian freedom, and it's up to the couple to decide. Promoting it as an ultimately good, pro-life cause and even a positive duty is going too far, imo. Those who have duty towards the embryos are the parents who allowed them to be created, not you. I wonder if someone is making a lot of money from selling these embryos to hopeless couples, but it's just the old cynical me. Anyway, before someone comes out and attacks me. I'm not telling anyone how to live their life on this blog. I'm just discussing things and providing (scientific) info. The choice is always yours.
So what are your honest thoughts about the question?
The Church is very clear on this matter (and IVF etc). Not permitted. Because procriation should never be separated from marital relationship. It is one woman and her eggs, one husband and his sperm and marital bed.
ReplyDeleteOr then adopt actual baby.
Sometimes I think it's easier to be a Catholic 'cause you guys are provided with clear answer to this type of questions by the Church authorities:)
ReplyDeleteAs an agnostic, I don't have an opinion on one way or the other though I think there is something to be said for having your own biological children in a committed relationship.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, that's why Catholicism is a joke to me, but some people like being told by an 'authority' how or what to think. Don't forget that Catholicism only became universal for a time because they murdered anyone who disagreed with them.
Well, I bet Catholics will disagree with your take About killing everyone, that is;)
ReplyDeleteAnd what's even worse with all the murdering they did they also think Jesus would approve. I guess their hubris is lost on them to.
DeleteYeah but can you really blame present day Catholics for something that happened many years ago? it's literally the same as the Left blaming all White Americans for slavery, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMy biggest issue with them is they refuse to acknowledge the historical evidence that the story the church tells is a total lie. Of course, they had zero to do with it just as much I had zero to do with any relatives in the past who were genuine bigots.
DeleteI'm in South Texas with a mostly Hispanic population, and way too many Catholics vote Democrat which at this point is the party of infanticide.
As if the Republican Party is much better;) Just wait till they reintroduce the draft...
ReplyDeleteYes, the Grand Ole Poltroons have been decades long phonies on the abortion issue when they had a clear majority in both houses of Congress along with the presidency.
DeleteI'm more of Ron Paul/Thomas Massie minded overall. I'm only vote Grand Ole Poltroon in the hopes of having a less bad outcome economically and other issues.
The draft will not go over well. The stupid (((them))) who have caused most of the problems are in for rude awakening down the line. I know of zero 'mud' people who care about (((them))) and their self inflicted problems over in the ME. Only stupid white Ziontards fall for that stupidity and there is not too many of them left other than Hegspeth or whatever his name.
Even an agnostic like me knows there is no such things as 'Judeo-Christian.'
