Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost has been selected as the 267th pope in
history. He is the first American to serve in the role and will be known
as Pope Leo XIV.
I couldn't find anything about his views on social issues but given that he was close to Pope Francis, he is probably more on a liberal side.
Anyway, congratulations to my Catholic readers!
I'm looking forward to his demise already. Another sorry popetard telling people like me who are White that we need more turd world trash in our country, but no open borders for India, Israel, China, South Africa, or the Vatican.

A Texan, what pope in his previous life thought about certain political issues, is utterly unimportant. He is the unity of The Church, his role is to be moral and religious leader. Media, in it is total ununderstanding of these matters, just writes about the political opinions of cardinals, but they mean absolutely nothing. In The Church, "today's politics" ALWAYS remain somewhat unimportant, because that is what they are.
ReplyDeleteHis morals, however, are totally in line with Church teachings: he is against abortion, of course etc. Also, what Robert Francis used to think about matters, is not necessarily what pope Leo thinks.
You can rest assured, that Holy Spirit will prevent him from doing things that might harm the unity of the church, or human souls. And that is what matter. Otherwise he can be the stupidest man on the world, because he still has a free will and Holy Spirit will allow him to make fool of himself -just not of Church.
We'll see I guess. I do not recall Pope Francis condemning Biden/Garland (DOJ) for prosecuting Christians peacefully protesting abortion at clinics. I'm an agnostic and found this frightening and disgusting. Trump pardoned these people, but it's sad no real Catholics came out and defended them.
DeleteTexan, it has been claimed that US gov under Obama forced Pope Benedict to abdicate by cutting Vatican off SWIFT. Of course, there is no way to check if it's true. But if it is...Benedict is still around so you guys have only yourselves to blame;)

DeleteI'll have to look that one up. As for Obummer, he only won because the Grand Ole Poltroons fielded uninspiring losers like McCain and Romney. I stayed home those years on election day.
DeleteYeah, I heard this story back in 2013 but without details. That time I read a version about SWIFT. I wonder myself if there is truth to it. But as they say, there is no smoke without a fire...
