  1. Have you read "the Screwtape letters" by C.S. Lewis? in that book, demon is giving instruction to a lesser demon how to corrupt human soul. One way was to make christian start kind of "church shopping". Because the church nearby wasn't good enough, or holy enough...

Apparently Lewis believed very much that we should just attend the church that is our nearest parish and settle with it. Because THE Church, bride of Jesus, is always there, no matter how stupid the priest and corrupt the wordly parts of church are.

I wonder, what Lewis would say today? The most degenerate (protestant) church of his times would be concidered fundamentalist today. What? No female priests? (He was against them).

Thinking, that "this church is not good enough for me" sounds a lot like Pride to me. And I have been deep in that thinking myself.

  2. Yes, I read it, many years ago. C.S. Lewis wrote some really good books, but his words aren't infallible truth, they are just his opinion. In his times they also didn't exactly have the same kind of problems with the churches we experience now. In the end, everyone will have to figure out for himself what to do. But it is different for Protestants, because of the nature of our worship. Catholic Church is different in this regard.
