Hunting And Outdoor Fair

As a new vegetarian (technically a pescatarian) again, I thoroughly enjoyed Hunting And Outdoor Fair which we attended on our way home from our mini-vacation. After nearly 2 years without any sort of fun events, now that 1.5m is officially abolished, it felt like the good old times again.

Live music, drinking a cup of tea/coffee on a terrace, and lots of people everywhere. They didn't only send weapons, of course, but all sorts of things, like this:

There was a BBQ competition using fresh meat, shooting clay pigeons, and also bow and arrow, stuff for dogs, clothes and even Christmasy stuff. (Poor folks missed all these Christmas markets last year!)

Made with a chainsaw:)

One of these rifles, I'm told, costs 9 000 euros!

It was all close to this nice village:

The weather was great, too, but now it's finally autumn...

Australian Police Strike Again

I first saw this on Twitter where somebody mentioned this guy and his YouTube channel. Honestly, it is shocking. Just imagine if it happened somewhere in White Russia or Iran, the newspapers would talk about it for days, demanding interference. But if it happens in an enlightened Western democracy, then it should be fine, amirite???

Update On Our Situation

After 2 days of protesting and an urgent Parliamentary debate, the rule has been changed so that apparently, one will still be able to sit on a terrace with a cup of tea or dinner without a code.

There were riots in The Hague and even a demo in our town, of the people who call themselves "resistance".

Common sense won! Proud of my country right now. We still have democracy left, unlike some of our neighbours, when they protest week after week and nothing changes.

Of course, it's not the end, and vigilance is needed to protect our rights in future. Medical decisions are a private matter and should never be the grounds of discrimination. Talk to your doctor and do what's right for you, don't judge others if they choose differently, and that goes for both sides of this debate.

P.S. I should add that yes, it's bad enough that so-called corona pass was installed at all, but it's the 1st time they announced a rule and then had to change it so quickly, even before it became official, and it only happened because of massive discontent. So it's a victory, however small!

The Day Freedom Died

So it's official now, since 25th of September my country will start segregating people according to their vaccination/test status. Those deemed unclean won't be able so much as to drink a cup of tea outside on a terrace in fresh air. And, btw, the vaccination book you have won't suffice, you'll need a QR code and your ID to be able to visit a bar or a restaurant, which (the code) will be scanned and nobody is sure where this info will go.

That's only the beginning, since our provisional government is seeking to change the law to force vaccine mandates on the workforce. Of course, any form of discrimination is already expressly forbidden  by the Constitution but no sacrifice is too great to fight the virus so the Constitution goes out of the window.

Some politicians and parties call to civil disobedience. And I heard that based Hungary is already on their 4th shot. Here we are currently only distributing the 3d one among vulnerable people as of yet , according to the official news. I have no words. That is, I do, but they are not fit for a public blog...

The Law Of Unintended Consequences

 strikes yet again:

A hospital in upstate New York has been forced to 'pause' the delivery of babies starting Sept. 24 after a flood of maternity workers resigned over Covid-19 vaccine mandates.

I wonder what do these nurses know what we don't...

Prayer Works

My cat is back, PTL and thank you everyone who prayed!

The poor thing was sitting on the roof around the corner all the time, where we couldn't see her. I was leafleting around and luckily, an old lady saw her and asked her son to telephone us.

We had to go on the roof through a window to get her as she wouldn't come to us, she was so scared. We are now planning to buy a GPS tag...

We were just on the way to church, btw, when it happened, what a coincidence!

 America???

Just a couple days ago everybody was laughing about Australia. So what are you all going to do about it?

Please no fedposting.

Rethinking Swimming Pools

and hot tubs. Apparently, you can get all sorts of infection there, and that if that is true about commercial, chlorinated pools just think what you can get from those back yard inflatable ones:

Swimming pool diseases

Official info is you can't catch an std such as HPV in a swimming pool or hot tub, but wait:

...the identification of HPV as an extremely stable virus as well as its ability to be resistant to common disinfectants suggests that this virus may be transmitted via contaminated fomites and surfaces, and through nosocomial transmission (Meyers et al., 2014;Ryndock & Meyers, 2014). Recently, the possibility of waterborne transmission has been raised (Fratini et al., 2013;Reynolds, 2012), due to the fact that HPVs are excreted both in the urine and in the feces. And indeed, HPV has recently been detected both in sewage and in sewage sludge (Bibby & Peccia, 2013;Cantalupo et al., 2011;La Rosa et al., 2013;Symonds, 2008). Consequently, these viruses may reach waters receiving sewage discharge. Although waterborne transmission has never been demonstrated, HPV DNA has recently been detected in different water environments, as discussed in the following sections...

...A variety of viruses may be discharged in pool waters by infected individuals or asymptomatic carriers. The occurrence of HPV in swimming pool waters has recently been studied in Italy (La Rosa et al., 2015). Polyomavirus, enteric viruses (adenovirus, norovirus and enterovirus), and bacteriological parameters (fecal indicator bacteria, heterotrophic plate count, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus) were also examined. Human papillomaviruses were identified in 7/14 (50%) samples. These belonged to five known types of the beta1 (HPV8, 12, 25) and beta2 (HPV23 and 120) genera. The study also found two putative new HPV genotypes. None of the enteric viruses tested were detected in the analyzed samples, and pool waters met the microbiological requirements defined by the national code. The implications on human health arising from the presence of HPV DNA in pool waters remain difficult to interpret.

Once again, "science" contradicts itself. So what are we to do? Use your common sense! As for myself, I prefer swimming in natural waters anyway.

Prayer Request

The littlest cat went for a walk on the roof and disappeared. Please pray that she comes back, we all love her and miss her!
