Raisin Scones



To make 10 you'll need:

2c of flour (you can use a mix with spelt and whole grain flour)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp cold butter
1/2 c raisins
3/4c buttermilk
milk and sugar for glazing

Combine dry ingredients, cut in butter, add raisins and buttermilk. Stir until a soft dough forms, then knead for a couple of minutes (don't overdo it otherwise scones will be hard.) Add extra buttermilk if needed. Roll out into a 7in circle, cut into 10 wedges. Brush with milk ans sprinkle with sugar. Bake at ab. 210*C - 220*C for 12-15 min. or till lightly browned.
Serve warm or cold. Enjoy.

    I haven't made scones in ages. Thanks for the reminder that such things exist!

    I like to make mine with turkish yoghurt, that very thick and fatty yoghurt.

    Yes, it's sold here, too. A bit like Greek joghurt, isn't it? Scones are easy to make and taste good. I'm planning on making a carrot cake as expect visitors.

    My hubby has had a crappy day so I decided to make a chocolate swiss roll with chocolate mousse filling. I only had 2 eggs, so I had to get really creative...

    Hubby liked it, I didn't. I'm lucky to have a husband who likes almost anything. :) Last week I made chicken soup that I disliked so he ate it all...

  6. :) My husband eats nearly everything, too! The carrot cake is a success and as I keep telling myself, it's quite healthy because of all these carrots so one doesn't have to be afraid to overindulge...
