Vegetarian Meatballs

Yes, yes, I know, it's an oxymoron:)

But those are really good and they were even better the next day. Of course, they have all the right ingredients, mushrooms, oats, cheese, eggs etc:

And they are probably much healthier than some fake burger from the store!

  1. I like to hit an Indian buffet once in a while, even if it's vegetarian, but I see no value to an exclusive vegetarian diet. It also leaves me less satiated most of the time.

  2. I'm not ideologically vegetarian. I eat fish/seafood 3 times a week and chicken sometimes. Heck, 2 weeks ago I ate some Chinese with pork in it:) Though I discovered I don't really miss or even like red meat any more. However, if necessary, I'd eat it. I just don't want to eat it regularly, and I do miss meatballs:)

I think many people who switch to this diet just don't get enough protein and fat (though less fat is seen as advantage, you still need some). You can't just exclude a whole food group and expect to get all the nutrition you need from broccoli.

The "meatballs" above provide fat (butter, olive oil) animal and plant protein (egg, cheese, oats) and vitamins like b12 and zinc so they are nutritionally adequate, more or less.

BTW, I'm not trying to convert anyone to vegetarianism, but if someone is interested, this recipe is quite good.
