I did vote for Trump with the expectation of him simply being less bad than the alternative. I do get tired of his Israel boot licking though he had restrained himself in the past. I could see him taking out Venezuela and Iran to poke China and Russia in the eye and change the regional power structure. The downside is that despite the enthusiasm of the Iranian people, you never know how these will work out.

The column you linked to is right about the Houthi encounters last year. The US Navy may not be the powerhouse it once was like in the past. However, the militaries of the US, China, and Russia are all big bureaucracies with their own inherent weaknesses.
