Remote, retroactive intercessory prayer was associated with a shorter
stay in hospital and a shorter duration of fever in patients with a
bloodstream infection. Mortality was lower in the intervention group,
but the difference between the groups was not significant. A larger
study might have shown a significant reduction in mortality.
