It must have taken quite some effort to get a good wardrobe. Today is certainly much easier. Ties are also becoming a thing of the past. Perhaps clothes are of inferior material now and often poorly sewn. The stores all seem to carry very similar clothes. More boring today, I'd say.
Fabrics used to be different, too, heavier, and I doubt they had all these stretchy materials. Nowadays people sometimes try to recreate vintage fashions using modern lightweight fabrics and it doesn't look the same.
