He has it warm, too!
We have experienced a heat wave this week, which must explain the lack of any sophisticated discourse on this blog:) Three times the temperature rose above +30*C, on Wednesday it was +34*C. It appears that we've seen the last of it today, as the wind changed and brought cold air from the sea and we just had a thunderstorm.
At home it's still uncomfortably warm, though, but the nights are getting colder again, so I have good hope tomorrow it will be bearable. In other news,
the Greek are having their referendum today.
I'll update you on the results.
UPDATE:
it looks like they voted "No".
Your heat wave is over - wish we had one here. The temperature is stuck in the 20's. Greece did vote no - I'm not sure what the mentality there is. My thoughts - they don't belong in the European Union. I see them aligning themselves with Putin.
ReplyDeleteThe heat wave is not fun! i prefer the temperatures around +20/24*C. At least, today I could clean the house normally. As for Greece, I think it's pretty significant what's happening over there as it has a potential to change a lot of things. I may be wrong, of course. We'll see...
ReplyDeleteI concider it heat wave if temperature is over +20. :) We had real heat wave for couple of days, I swam too much and now have flu.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to Greece, I am only worried about the humanitarian crisis they are about to have -and having already. George Soros said when all this started that Greece should not be supported, they sould only be given such help that prevents humanitarian crisis (=food, meds) but banks should not be helped. But to be honest I haven't followed that situation so closely, since there is nothing I can do about it. I assume that mankind will survive, like it always has. :)
What's your average summer temperature then? Sorry to hear you had flu. I haven't swum so far this summer as I only swim in the sea and the water is still cold. As for Greeks, I don't really worry about them at all, just wondering how the situation will develop.
ReplyDeleteStatistically we have approximately 35-40 "heat days" per year. That means that temperature is over +25. It is very rare that temperature is over +30, and that is usually on August. My comfort zone is somewhere between +15-+22. Warmer than that, I suffer. Especially if it is humid and not windy.
ReplyDeleteI swim all year - round, or roll in the snow (after sauna) when we have it so I don't really understand the concept of "cold water". :) If it is not frozen, one can swim in it. ;)
Well, for me, water has to be at least +18*C that I risk going in:) I like when it's warm in summer, but not too hot. +25*C I find fine, anything above is getting problematic. Two years ago we travelled to Southern Germany, Switzerland and Italy, and it was above 30*C all the time, and we stayed in a hotel without airco. That I didn't care much about. Where do you go on vacation?
ReplyDeleteOn summer vacation, we usually go to our summer cottage. Or to Norway. On winter vacation we go to Lapland. Snow guaranteed. But I must admit that me and my hubby are quite exceptional even for finns, most people like to go to southern Europe or Thailand or anywhere warm when they have vacation.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to go to Norway, but my husband prefers Germany, not that I don't like it over there. He wants to go to Lapland once, but that's too cold for me!
