Old Southern Garden reminded me that I have no funeral dress for summer. Only for winter. I should by LBD but my weight has been changing so much during the past years...

I also liked "The importance of NOT talking about sex". I have noticed that if other women speak very openly, I feel compelled to do the same, even though I think it is very disloyal to my husband. I don't want to embarrass the other women by staying silent but don't want to talk about my private life, either. Life would be so much easier if everbody followed the same conduct and code...

  2. A good quality formal black dress from polyester or thin wool will suffice for both winter and summer, imo.

Concerning sex, if other women start asking you nosy questions, you can just say that your husband doesn't give you any reasons to complain:)

  3. BTW, nosy people have always existed. I remember reading advice on how to deal with women asking nosy questions about how much your husband earns, from an old etiquette book. The author suggested saying that it was quite enough, a nice salary; or that it was rather modest, instead of giving a direct answer.

I should really learn how to give indirect answers to direct questions. :) Luckily most people like to talk about themselves; I have noticed that if one just says something and then leads the discussion back to the other person, the other person is usually very happy, even if you didn't answer her question at all. :)

My problems is that I am too honest; I feel that indirect answers are almost lying. I feel that I should always give as accurate answer as possible, if people ask me something.

  5. Honesty or not, it's my personal opinion that it's better to keep certain things to yourself. By telling others too much private info, you make yourself vulnerable and they can later use it against you in some situations.

I totally agree. Nowadays the culture just seems to be that we should "share" everything. Even if it doesn't interest others at all.
