KJV for me. Pastor Breaker did a few excellent sermons on why it should be the version used or at least for those who read in English. I was already using it before, but he really sold me on it.
Originally I was reading it because I felt that it was the most accurate version. This was just a gut feeling at the time. Many years later after I ran across Pastor Breaker who is by far the best pastor I have ever seen, he put out a sermon on why you should use the KJV.
I can't do his sermon justice in any way or shape, but he went through the history of where and who exactly was producing the various versions of the bible. One thing I remember is that its interesting that at the root, most around 80-ish% come from Alexandra where there was a massive heresy in progress at the time. The KJV was ordered created by King James and he specifically told the translators to go to Greece for the New Testament (it was written in Greek and in Greece) and Israel for the Old Testament, same reason but in Hebrew. They were if I remember correctly to find the most writing that agreed word for word. If I remember correctly there was something like 5,000 manuscripts from the time period which all agreed word for word which was used to create the KJV version.
Again I can in no way do the sermon justice, it was extremely interesting, but it has been quite a while since I saw it I just recall it be extremely interesting. He also has a track record of extremely good sermons, if your interested in watching. You can find him on YouTube under Robert Breaker.
KJV. I just have studied a lot of books and articles written on the subject and decided that it was the best version. It has also stood the test of time.
Though I'm an agnostic and have zero use for church on Sunday, I do watch different YT videos on this topic and others. I like the Recovering Catholic and others. Look up old videos with 'William Donahue.' I'm sure churchians will go ape over this guys interpretation of the Bible and would have lynched him if given the chance.
Why did we end up with 66 books instead of the 80 or so that the Ethiopian Christians use? It's like much has been hidden from us over the centuries but it is coming out over the last few decades with more archeological research. There are so many lies we have been told because most denominations become power hungry entities always looking for an angle to control people.
I don't think it is at all a weird version, it is just "new" English (not 1600 English )and sometimes children do better with it. Whether they be children in age or children in faith.
Texan, Catholics (and Eastern Orthodox) have apocrypha i.e. non-canonical books in their Bibles. Protestants normally don't use them because they are considered to be non-inspired. But you can read them, it's not forbidden;) If I'm not mistaken, a lot of support for the doctrine of purgatory comes from apocrypha.
