Well, it took me some time but I finally did check your links yesterday evening.
For the record, here they are:
Just a couple of thoughts. Concerning the 1st video, I really had no idea that Americans have it so bad. What about your president fixing economy and stuff? Compared to this, we still have more or less decent life over here, even people who live on welfare and can't afford a car.
As for Pearl, yeah, I'm not a big fan of her but as I'm lazy I won't do any fact checking and just take what she says about divorce at face value. There are two things I'd like to point out. First, despite the American divorce system which she criticises, according to her statistics, Hindus and Muslims somehow manage to have pretty low divorce rates which means that you still can have a normal family even with easy divorce laws. Which really makes it shameful for Christians to divorce so much. Especialy considering that Islam allows divorce and Christianity forbids it.
However, and this is my 2nd point. If you are a Christian, please keep in mind that if you want to have licit s8x and avoid fornication, marriage is your only option. And if you really don't want to marry, it's fine. Just stay single and celibate (or at least try to). Again, our divorce system is different and men do pretty well in it, BTW, the divorce rates started climbing in the 1990s when married women started working en masse. There was even scientific research which proved that the more hours the woman works the higher her chance of divorce. So make your own conclusions.
Your last link is more like the summary of the first video.
I do appreciate the discussion so feel free to express your thoughts in the comments below:)
The grocery shelves are full but some people are struggling financially even those who are minimalist. I've not really seen this in my part of the country, but the food banks are busy these days. I do see the restaurants busy in the city I live outside of even on a weekday so some people do have money. The gas stations have fuel available 24/7, the electricity is working, but there are some under pinning's in the economy that Trump has no control over and were already in motion during Biden. The tech companies like MS and IBM and others have laid off thousands. Amazon and UPS, and FedEx have or will be laying off people.
ReplyDeleteI live with my parent so I can save some money, so I'm doing better than most.
Christians do have an embarrassing divorce percentage which is I put zero stock into that religious viewpoint. It's a total waste of my time. In the end, it's the two people and whether they want to make it work or not and has little to do with religion. I've had sex without marriage and will never feel bad about it. I would have loved to be with someone long term, but most women can't do it. This entire stupidity that one should take joy in being alone is why I don't really care to be Christian. It's simply an idiotic viewpoint with no basis in reality of human relationships. I'm not here to be like Jesus anyway.
Hi! I read your comment but had no time to answer. My washing machine broke down so I had to choose a new one. I'll write more tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm back. Concerning the economy, have you checked the article I linked recently?
ReplyDeleteAs for your 2nd point, I have bad news for you. It's not only Christianity which teaches that s8x should be within marriage, but other religions, such as Islam do, too. But since you aren't a believer why do you get upset about Church teachings?
Yes, I'm well aware of what other religions teach about sex and marriage. Though I'm doubtful every Muslim follows it either, but probably more so than modern Christians other than the Amish/Mennonite types worldwide.
DeleteI get upset that these stupid viewpoints were being forced upon me when younger and it was not acknowledged that Christianity offered zero value to me as a person and never will. I went to school in a small town where there were no less than 12 churches and even they could not get along with each other though they all used the same to similar book. All they wanted to do with young people is send them to church though most of them are hypocrites anyway. Besides, most Christian women are not virgins anyway. You might listen to some videos by Aaraon Clarey and Christian Dating. It's a joke!
Look, I'm not mocking anything here, I simply don't believe religions have a monopoly on morality. Even agnostic to non religious men would prefer a woman with low partner count, pleasant, caring, and wants to work together with them.
Well, your approach to religion appears to be totally pragmatic, like "what is there in it for me?" which doesn't strike me as a correct one.
ReplyDelete"I went to school in a small town where there were no less than 12 churches and even they could not get along with each other though they all used the same to similar book."
Yeah, that's the typical problem with Protestants, unfortunately. Sometimes I wonder if the Catholic Church is right...
I'm well aware about problems with modern women. Modern young men are often not much better, though. We could have a lengthy discussion about all sorts of reasons for this corruption of good morals, but feminism is certainly one of them. Churches don't confront it because it's the state policy.
I can see the community aspect of a church, but I don't get anything out of believing in this mythical sky god that will smite me for any number of reasons. I like the idea of Christmas, appreciate artwork like the Last Supper, like Christian "themed" songs in country or other genres. I will never accept this stupidity though that someone who does good things for others in their community and does not care about Jesus one way or another is less of a person than someone was douchebag most of their life and then 'repents' and is somehow better than us who don't care. That's some retarded nonsense right there.
DeleteSome of these churches I speak of had been in this rural community for decades and had some money since they had nice facilities. There were Baptist (2 or 3), Lutheran, Methodist, a nice Catholic church on the lower income side of town, Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Jehovahs, and some independent ones with maybe a dozen or so people.
You see, that's your problem. Since you don't believe in God, you only see the community aspect of a church, hence the pragmatic approach. For a Christian, that's different. A believer is supposed to attend church sermons more or less regularly. It's not really an option, but more of a command (not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together etc). Yes, the churches are flawed as the modern society is, but it's then up to you to choose one which is less though (or gather with like-minded families at home in the extreme case). And yes, it is difficult to find a decent church.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Mormons and Jehovas's witnesses aren't considered real Christians by most. I tend to agree.
