I think september is the last month we can count on sun for it. After that, the sun is so low (and it is also often very cloudy)that skin just does not react. I heard somewhere that in the middle of winter you need to spend like 2 hours outside in the sun to get enough vit.D which most people don't do. Now for a couple of days we've had a cold spell (it froze this morning) with lots of sun but it's going to be warm, rainy and gloomy yet again...Sannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08124283361844607678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139017677124620997.post-77581733025289128342019-10-31T07:49:31.693-07:002019-10-31T07:49:31.693-07:00Winter blues is rather common here. I personally don't really suffer from the lack of sunlight, propably because I walk my dog in the morning, so my circadian rhythm gets the sunlight it needs in the morning. I do sleep more on wintertime, though. I have read it is normal to sleep 2 hours more on winter, my situation is not quite that bad. :)

I have also read people who live north enough to have proper snow, do not have so much winter blues. We live on the southwest coast, so we have long dark autumn and rather short time of permanent snow. In northern Finland there is permanent snow for much longer time and also trees are snow-cowered. So it is never really dark, only dusky. I normally get winter blues around this time of the year, but have found that authentic cod liver oil helps. Will start taking it again in a couple of days.Sannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08124283361844607678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139017677124620997.post-21508380781995458642019-10-30T08:39:38.866-07:002019-10-30T08:39:38.866-07:00Thanks, Elspeth! We're all slightly heat fatigued as usually by November the high has dropped to about 80.

But living in a warm climate does have it up side. When the heat finally breaks, the winters are blissful and we spend lots of time outside, including doing school lessons outside and taking impromptu beach trips.

So I will admire your photos, which are lovely, and patiently wait for our season to change, such as seasons change down here. :)

Elspethhttp://readingbetweenthelife.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3139017677124620997.post-7915427886854208412019-10-30T05:24:52.369-07:002019-10-30T05:24:52.369-07:00I love autumn, light is so soft then. I wish permanent snow comes early this year. Yesterday we had the tiniest amount of snow but it all melted away.
